Sao Paulo is, net als Amsterdam, een stad die leeft. Chefkok en media planner Leonardo Lucas Adriano (29) kan je daar alles over vertellen. Wanneer hij niet in de keuken staat of door de branding scheert op zijn surfboard, dwaalt hij rond met zijn camera. Fotografie is zijn passie. Geboren en getogen in de Braziliaanse metropool, verhuisde hij tien maanden geleden voor de liefde naar Amsterdam, waar hij onmiddellijk de overeenkomsten en gelijkenissen met zijn geboortestad zag. Multiculti, maar met behoud van de eigen, culturele roots. Amsterdam is als Sao Paulo. En vice versa.

“Like Amsterdam, this city never stops. There is always something to do: there are always new places to discover. It is a concrete jungle made out of flesh and bones. It’s a giant who never sleeps. A living organism.
Even though wildly different from the idea of a tropical city like for instance Rio de Janeiro, the looming and grey city of Sao Paulo is alive and vibrant. It’s a city filled with inspiring people, living their own unique stories; stories which shape the city and bring it to life. The way these stories are told, the way the city lives, depends completely on how the people interact with the city’s public spaces.”
